I have migrated the RSS-feeds and while you still will be able to read the RSS-feeds via the old address, I urge you to change to the new feed-address: Subscribe to Feeds.
With over 300 readers per day and some 50,000 hits per month I am hoping to offset some of the cost of running this blog through the embedded Google-advertising. The ads are not going to be intrusive (i.e. at the bottom of the feed) and if you see anything of value/interest being advertised, just click on the link - it will generate some revenue to continue running this site.
What do you know, it's someone's birthday today! That's right. In case you guys forgot, it's PlayStation 3's second birthday today. Yep, on exactly the same day two years ago, Sony launched their shiny, black next-gen console meant to revolutionize gaming platforms and gameplay.

Two years ago today, Sony delivered the next-generation console, providing consumers with a gaming and home entertainment system unlike anything in the market – the power of the Cell Broadband Engine, out-of-the-box HDMI support for 1080p resolution, and a Blu-ray drive for high-definition movies and expansive games.
My Belkin N1 Vision (F5D8232uk4) gigabit router has served me well in the past, and although I would next time rather go with a Netgear or Linksys, the choice was made due to it's gigabit ports (at the time of purchase there was no wireless router available with those features).

Over the weekend I updated my F5D8232uk4-version 1 router to the latest pre-release firmware (v1.00.16) which resolves the following issues:
- General improvements in performance and stability
- Fix for a problem where the router would drop some connections on 2-hour intervals
- Updated driver for the Wireless Network card
Unlike other users, I must have been lucky, since I have not experienced any issues and would not be able to tell a difference after applying the latest firmware.
My trusty Logitech 895 flaked out over the weekend. Although nothing had changed (isn't this what is usual in cases like that?), I was not able to update the settings on the remote. If the Logitech Control centre displays an error 0x24400700 during/after updating the remote, you will be able to resolve it with the instructions below.
The Harmony remote has a "safe-mode" option, which allows you to re-flash the firmware (when doing this, I noticed I upgraded from 4.0 to 4.7):
- Remove the rechargeable battery
- Keep the power-button pressed
- Plugin the USB cable and release the power button once "Safe mode enabled" is displayed
- Re-flash the firmware (via the Download button in the Harmony control centre)
- Update the remote with the latest settings
- Remove the USB cable and insert the battery again
I did have to re-update the settings several times (this might have been related due to the fact that I had my notebook not connected to a power-plug).
In a previous post I explained how to gather statistics for your Netgear DG834 DSL modem router. Thanks for all the donations!! I have made some subtle changes in the router.cgi to display SNR/attenuation in one chart and display the latest values:

The scripts don't just run on a Synology DiskStation. I have received reports that people integrated the scripts with their Linux boxes, QNAPs and others. In some instances, people modified the scripts (the code is easy enough to modify even for a Linux newbie) to make them work with other routers.
Again, please note, that out of the box, the scripts will work with any modem router supporting telnet and "adslctl" on the router. I would love to make SNMP or HTTP-polling functionality available, but have not got any router supporting this at the moment.
If you want to use the scripts, donate below (you require a running version of Perl with Net::Telnet and Net::Ping, rrdtool -- the scripts will run on the Synology out of the box).
