For those of you who have the epoll error, try getting the package from another feed. I got mine for the DS110j at http://ipkg.nslu2-linux.org/feeds/optware/syno0844mv6281/cross/unstable/

Reinstall with ipkg install squid...(etc).ipk

I'm having the very same problem than SteveR and Paul
squid -N -d 1
FATAL: comm_select_init: epoll_create(): (38) Function not implemented

Squid Cache (Version 2.6.STABLE23): Terminated abnormally.
CPU Usage: 0.010 seconds = 0.010 user + 0.000 sys
Maximum Resident Size: 0 KB
Page faults with physical i/o: 0
Aborted

Trying to run it on a DS209.
Any ideas? Perhaps it's a limitation on recent kernels or libc...?

I want to create a transparent proxy with squid and netgear router.
Tried some configuration but nothing works !

Tried to install on a DS209 and got this message:
FATAL: comm_select_init: epoll_create(): (38) Function not implemented

I thought the latest optware version had been compiled w/o epoll

Thanks for the tutorial - after noticing that i have to change the .conf with my ip range (ups :-) it works perfectly out of the box.

Additionally i added AddZap (http://librenix.com/?inode=4483).

On my DS 207.128 : PERFECT.

I used IPKG - as far as I can remember this still came with Squid 2.6, but does it's job.
